“The beauty of landscape and topography is somewhat elusive to those whom use it often and in a transient manner. Studio Obscura uses the power of denial to remove and distort views so as to render beautiful scenes that have become ordinary through frequent use”

 

This competition asked that architects, designers and artists come together to design an observatory space that could also house a resident artist for a period of 12 weeks. The observatory would move to four different locations over the 12 week period so needed to be demountable and be able to fit on the back of a lorry in order to travel across the south coast.

 

Our design, in collaboration with designer Paul Colfer and artist Casey Williams was long listed in

the top 20.
